GUITAR FAB INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY CLASS
PURPOSE OF THIS CLASS:
To develop skills that will last beyond the scope of this class.

: Develop safe working habits
MAIN POINTS
: Break big problems into manageable parts in order to build
something as complex as a guitar.
: Learn the process of design
- Research - Ideas - brainstorming - Sketching
- Planning - Constraints - Implementing - Evaluating
: Learn to play the guitar
- Learn to play a scale.
- Learn keys and chords.
- Tuning a guitar
- Reading tabliture
- Learn to play a song and some riffs.
Expectations
- Follow safety rules
- Do quality work
- Make good use of class time (you will need to in order to complete everything).
- Be on time and do your best.
Students will design and build an acoustic guitar from scratch. Students will make the neck, set the frets, and create a hollow body of their own design. The saddle, nut, and pick guard will be made from acrylic while the body, neck and bridge will be made from cedar, cherry, walnut, and mahogany. Upon completion of the Acoustic guitar they will learn some basic playing techniques. A second instrument of their choice may be made if time allows or an accessory for the guitar they made such as a guitar stand. Electric guitars, rain sticks, and ukuleles have also been made in the past.
There is a $30 shop fee for this class.
